Kosumai, Thailand & More

ship as viewed from the tender

It's been a few days since the last blog, so I will try to catch up on all our adventures. The next port of call after Lam Shabang, was Kosumai, the western beach resort of Thailand. It is an island, so we had to tender in to land – we have been here before and it is well worth it, so I suffered the tender...
After walking forever just to get off the dock, we meandered about the nearby town. B had a map with the post office and grocery store pinpointed. We searched for another massage studio and ended up with 1 hour full body oil massage for 300 baht ($10). It was sooo relaxing and tranquil. The Thai's wash your feet and then we were directed to a cubby inset that had 2 futon mattress-like beds. B was already face down in his boxers and I stripped and did the same. Our masseuses proceeded to oil our back and knead our muscles.

They did not walk on us, but did straddle our butts and used the hands, elbows and forearms to the best of their abilities. B was so relaxed, he had trouble standing up with the futon bed...
After our massage, B went to the grocery store and I did a little window shopping.

We strolled back to the tender dock and arrived just as every tour group did also... It was a bit of a wait in a Disneyland line to get on the tender, but we were able to get an outside seat and it wasn't too tippy motoring back to the ship.
That night was our last Gala affair, so B & I dressed in our formal attire. I took my camera up to team trivia and took this photo of our team, Muddlin' Thru looking quite smart. The guy on the far right is Ben, our super assistant cruise director and the man with the quiz... We celebrated prior wins with a bottle of champagne but did not manage to win again this leg of the cruise.

Yesterday was our last sea day and B and I both had busy schedules. Pickle ball was on at 11am and 2pm for B, and shuffleboard for both of us at 1130am. I had team trivia at 1pm and fit a bit to eat in before playing in the blackjack final table at 3pm. I came in 2nd for $150... We coerced our table group and some others to meet us at 4pm and taught them all to play LCR. I won both games, but tried really hard to NOT win the 2nd game – Matt & Celia both had an opportunity to win, then passed the die onto me where I proceeded to roll a dot to win the pot! They all accused me of fixed dice and fleecing them of their money, but I swear it was just luck – I was on a roll! Lol!
The evening shows have been fine, but last nights was super. A comedic magician and a flutist, Stephen Clark from Scotland. He is amazing and has performed as a soloist on Pirates of the Caribbean, other Disney movies and even Star Wars. I will certainly look for his music for my ipod when I get home.

Today is turnaround day in Singapore – most of the folks will get off and we will get a new gang of passengers. Sadly Ben is leaving too, so B & I will have to break in a new activity director. Also we will have all new table mates in the dining room, although it will be hard to surpass the great gang we had this last go around. You guys will be missed: Muriel, Joyce & Brian, Celia, Matt & Lynn.

We got off today in Singapore just to stroll around a very fancy mall, get stamps from the post office and grocery shop.
The next 14 days will be cruising only in Indonesia visiting many of the islands. I will try to check back in at our first stop, which is Jakarta. Have a great day today and a better one tomorrow...
