Jakarta, Java, Indonesia

Indonesian Greeters at the Mall

Greetings from the Island of Java.  As we don't do ships tours, we once again took the free shuttle to a nearby mall.  According to the shipboard EXC guides, there are over 170 modern malls in Jakarta.  There are over 12 million people here, and 18 million motorcycles!!  Honda has a factory here and they make 5000 bikes a day, just for Jakarta!
When we entered the mall the above pictured 3 ladies greeted us and were available for information and photos.  I thought maybe Jess could just pick out his favorite...
It was a lovely mall but once again we managed in our quest to find the equivalent of the dollar store - The 25,000 Rupiah Store ($2 each item)
Please tell Phillip we thought of him today and took this picture.  It is at the arcade in the mall:
I tried to bring home a little something to decorate my party house, but they wanted a million Rupiah ($80) and B said it wouldn't fit in the suitcase, let alone on the train to Bangkok!  LOL!  But he's so adorable:

Just as we were about ready to leave, B found his sign and insisted that I take his picture.  I guess I ordered one, cause he followed me back to the ship.
Order here - 1 old, fat guy...lol!
LOL!  BTW, could one of you Georgers snag this photo and share on our trip forum as well as Friday night?  I am unable to post photos to Where's George... thanks

About half the crew are Indonesian, so it has been fun seeing their families visiting aboard ship.  Some of them have babies that they haven't even met...
I have somewhat of a new trivia team, but we haven't got our groove yet - in fact last night was only 7 correct out of 17...yuck!  Hope to redeem ourselves soon...  Our dinner table companions so far are a couple from Holland and 2 ladies from India, who live in London.  Should be an interesting group...
Tomorrow is Semarang also on Java, so we'll see you then.
Have a great day today and a better one tomorrow...
